Questions people often ask

What is the discovery call?

A free, friendly chat by phone. You can tell me a little about what you would like help with, ask me anything, and see whether hypnotherapy feels right for you. There is no pressure to book.

What happens at the first session?

Your initial consultation takes about an hour. We talk about what you would like to be different, and I explain how the sessions work. I'll give you a relaxation recording to listen to at home.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people find it very relaxing. In hypnosis you are relaxed but fully aware and in control. You can hear everything, and you won't be asked to do or say anything you don't want to.

How many sessions will I need?

It is different for everyone, so I don't promise a set number. We will talk about how things are going as we go along, and you are never tied in.

How much does it cost?

The discovery call is free. The initial consultation is £70, then £60 a session, or £200 if you pay for 4 sessions upfront. Prices are the same for adults, children and young people. See prices.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes, by Zoom. Sessions are also face to face in my garden therapy room in Aughton, which is what I prefer where I can.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What we talk about stays between us. As with any therapist, the only exception would be if I were seriously worried about your safety or someone else's, and I would always try to talk to you about it first.

Should I still see my GP?

Yes. Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical care. If you are worried about your health, please speak to your GP, and keep taking any medication you have been prescribed.

Do you see children and young people?

Yes. Read about sessions for children and young people.

A few things you can try today

  • Rectangle breathing. Find a rectangle near you: a window, a door or a picture frame. Breathe in along a short side and out along a long side, all the way round.
  • Notice the details. Look at something in nature, the sky, a tree or a flower, and really notice its colours, shapes and movement.
  • Three good things. Before bed, write down three things that went well today, however small.
  • Get moving gently. A short walk outside is a good way to give yourself a break.
  • Talk to someone you trust. A trouble shared is a trouble halved.
